Regional Groups | OxfordDr Candy Stone The PSIGE Annual report Oxford Regional Group July 2007The Oxford branch covers Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire. We have one clinical training course (Oxford Doctoral course) within our region. The group meet bi monthly in Oxford. Over the last year we have met on 5 occasions and had one extraordinary meeting. On the whole the meetings have been well attended with approximately 15 – 20 people attending (including trainees and assistants). Traditionally the meetings are divided into two parts. The first part is business and the second part involves a presentation / seminar. This year however this has not always been the case because the psige group members have opted to use the seminar slot to discuss organisational change issues and fundamentally the amalgamation of older peoples and adult psychological services in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. This was indeed the subject of the extraordinary meeting called in January in order to put together a regional PSIGE response to a consultation model affecting a significant number of the branch members. Topics that have been discussed or presented have included: the Bucks Early Onset Dementia Service, local policy on driving and dementia, gaining consent from people with dementia and the teaching programme for the regional clinical training course. The post of chair has been held by Candy Stone (geographical convenor) and the post of secretary was shared by Stephanie Oldroyd (until she went on maternity leave in December) and Ian Scott. Chris Allen has been our national PSIGE representative and kept us up to date on national PSIGE business. Report complied by Dr Candy Stone |
