PSIGE North Wales

We must be one of the smallest PSIGE's in the UK with only 12 members spread over a large geographical area. We meet twice a year for a whole day and have a business agenda in the morning. National PSIGE and DCP WALES are standing items and more recently the mergers of the North Wales Trusts into Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The merger is bringing interesting changes about in that most PSIGE members will all work in the same department.

The trainees from the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme have their placements with PSIGE members. Most of the PSIGE members lecture at the training programme and as such we have regular reviews of our teaching to ensure we cover national developments as well as PSIGE suggested curriculum.

The trainees usually provide us with some interesting teaching session: eating disorders in older people, boundary challenges in working with older people, working psychologically with older people, identity and dementia, autistic spectrum disorder in later life.

In the afternoon we share knowledge and experiences and occasionally invite a speaker.

We welcome new members!
