The Faculty of the Psychology of Older People is delighted to endorse the development of the Alzheimer's Society Dementia Research Leadership Programme. We hope the opportunities it offers will encourage psychologists and other researchers to take up the challenge of creating innovative research projects to discover and develop the most effective psychosocial interventions in dementia. This will improve services for people with dementia, their families and the staff who work with them. Developing research into dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions on a par with the cancer research programme - hopefully with equally effective results, will keep the UK at the forefront of best practice in dementia care.
