Membership

There are 20 to 30 permanent members in our group, made up of Clinical Psychologists, trainees and assistants. Trainees and Assistant Psychologists attend whilst on placement from the UEA course and when they are working with PSIGE members.

Meetings

We meet every 2 months at the PGMEC at Fulbourn Hospital in Cambridge, on a Wednesday morning. Meetings remain very well attended. Meetings tend to comprise of a business component followed by a presentation.

Service Delivery

PSIGE East Anglia maintains a focus on clinical quality and service delivery. This includes clinical presentations and discussion, information sharing and debate of hot topics from around the region. This also serves as a source of peer support.

Posts and Workforce Planning

At each meeting representatives from the different localities and Trusts update on workforce planning issues, including whether new posts have been established. Trainees and assistants regularly attend meetings when on placement, and this agenda item is usually the first place they get to hear about post developments. Strategic developments and national issues are shared.

Training Issues

We meet with staff from the UEA course on a regular basis to plan our input to the Older Adult teaching and to plan for trainees on core and specialist placements. Members attend the supervisors subcommittee and course training committee. They contribute to the course reviews.

Supervisors continue to offer one, two and in certain cases three placements per intake to place the average yearly demand of approximately 21 places in the second year.
